Better yet, all the tables, chairs, lighting, bar, kitchen, etc. are already in place making the logistics a breeze. Most restaurants even have event coordinators to help with all the details. If you admire historical architecture with all the modern amenities including a full service caterer and impeccable service then a private club might be perfect for your wedding! Private clubs tend to have many eye-catching rooms allowing for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception to all have their separate space – making transitioning between each part of the night very simple! However, many private clubs require you or someone you know to be a member.

When considering a vineyard a few keys things to remember: 1) most are open to the public on weekends – be sure to check their hours for your wedding day 2) vineyards look very different in Spring compared to early Fall – be sure to check out the venue during your wedding month to make sure it looks like you imagined and 3) most vineyards will require you to use their wine – be sure to do a wine tasting before booking the venue!

A botanic garden offers a nature setting filled with color and texture. Use the season, colors and flower variety to your advantage when designing your wedding, allowing you to add a few simple finishing touches, while creating a simple and beautiful look. Remember that botanic gardens are usually public spaces, so be sure to check their hours when creating your timeline. In addition, in order to protect the environment botanic gardens are highly regulated and controlled – getting a list of all the regulations prior to booking is key to making sure there are no hidden surprises along the way!

At Home

At home weddings are very intimate and informal affairs. Choosing to host your wedding at your own home or a family member’s home holds personal meaning to the couple and a sense of nostalgia. Fairmont Olympic Hotel

As with many other venues hotels have a variety of styles and a variety of room sizes. Most hotels have a neutral nondescript décor that is screaming for you to add your own style to it! With this type of setting lighting and linens are key to giving the space life! Logistically speaking, hotels tend to be easy venues – they have a full staff, they know what works and doesn’t work in the space, and have a variety of menus to select from. Not to mention your guests don’t have to go far after the party!

Loft

Logistics: Difficult; Décor: Moderate; Personalizing: Simple

A loft is the perfect place for couples who have a vision of their wedding and feel confident bringing it to life! Lofts are typically blank slates allowing you to make it ours. While usually less expensive, coordinating and planning all the tedious details can be tricky just as with an at home wedding since every must be brought in to create the space of your dreams! But if you have the vision and organizational skills it can be totally worth all the effort!

Beach

Logistics: Difficult; Décor: Moderate; Personalizing: Simple)

A beach wedding offers a beautiful surrounding with a casual atmosphere and boasts well to simple décor while still creating a big impact. For the ultimate experience consider a weekend wedding getaway for you and your guests. Or think about choosing a beach hotel that can handle all the coordinating for you – if not you are going to be faced with a lot of logistical challenges. Depending on the location you choose remember that beaches are public spaces, be sure to check their times, rules and regulations – you don’t want a volleyball landing on you during the ceremony!

Farm

Logistics: Difficult; Décor: Simple; Personalizing: Simple

Storybook Farms

Storybook Farms

A farm is a perfect venue to dress up or down – depending on your setting and style you can hold a casual wedding for an elegant affair! Farms also offer an innate sense of warmth and charm! Depending on your venue selection the logistics can be simple if full service catering is offered, if not you will need to be prepared to bring in all the necessary items.

Tent

Logistics: Difficult; Décor: Difficult; Personalizing: Simple

A tent is a perfect blank canvas to create the wedding of your dreams. Tents come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. You can have a variety of tents – one for the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. You can even transform the ceremony and cocktail tents into lounge areas during the reception to create intimate sitting areas for guests during the reception. However, remember this will require you to again design and coordinate each detail (including renting generators and/or kitchen equipment for your caterer and DJ) which can be a major production!

I hope this makes selecting your venue a little easier, or gives you a good place to start! If you are still feeling overwhelmed or have questions about specific venue options in the area shoot me an email I’d love to chat and help you find the perfect venue for your wedding day! Happy Planning!
